Research on Research, or "R2", is a summer program which brings undergraduate students into the world of university research. In the program, undergraduate students are brought together with faculty members to collaborate on a research project during Summer quarter. The undergraduates assist in the research and develop a multimedia portfolio documenting the research project.
Participants in the R2 program have come from diverse fields in OSU's research community, from Astronomy, Engineering, Chemistry, Surgery, Molecular Genetics, and Geological Sciences to Psychology, Design, Business, Anthropology, and English and many more.
Research projects have studied topics including the reinforcement of concrete columns, documenting new media and writing studies, the improvement of cancer drugs by organic synthesis, using metamaterials to block cell phone signals, the effects of online gaming, and the socioeconomic and nutritional importance of grasshoppers in rural Oaxaca, Mexico.
