PCS
Reinforcement

This research focuses on Prefabricated
Cage System (PCS) reinforcement as a new method for reinforcing concrete columns. PCS is formed by cutting a grid into a steel tube, resulting in a cage consisting of longitudinal and transverse steel members. Previous research has been conducted on the performance of PCS reinforced square columns. This research tests the performance of circular columns reinforced with PCS in comparison to a rebar reinforced column with identical areas of steel, and also tests the effect of varying the tube thickness and grid openings of the PCS while keeping the area of steel the same. A total of six columns, four PCS and two rebar, will be constructed and loaded to failure. The test results will be recorded and analyzed in order to compare the performance of the PCS reinforcement.
