Description: To determine the amount of acetylcholine, the samples are electrochemically analyzed by the HPLC machine which feeds the data to the adjacent computer-in the form of a curve representing the acetylcholine release. The acetylcholine release captured in each fifteen minute sample is put as a point in a graph showing if there was a significant change in acetylcholine release when a particular drug is infused into the nucleus accumbens.

The Y axis shows the amount of current and the X axis is the time elapsed during the analysis of each vial. The computer displays and calculates the amount of acetylcholine as the area of under the current curve at about the five and a half minute mark .
