COSI Partnershipgold line

COSI (The Center of Science and Industry) http://www.cosi.org/ is a renowned science museum in Columbus, Ohio, that seeks to bridge the academic and public worlds by bringing university students, public visitors, and families from all backgrounds together with researchers and scientists.

Universities need to find ways to connect with citizens, and the partnership between COSI and The New Parents Project provides a way to facilitate such interaction. The goal of this partnership is to develop a long-term relationship between study participants and COSI. This relationship will be fostered in three ways:

  1. Participating families will receive a one-year COSI membership
  2. The final data collection at phase 4 will be conducted in a research space adjacent to “little kidspace” http://www.cosi.org/educators/earlychildhood/little-kidspace/at COSI. Little Kidspace is a separate area designed by early childhood experts that supports emerging sensory-motor and cognitive capabilities of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
  3. After completion of data collection, families will be invited to return to COSI’s “Family Friday Nights” http://www.cosi.org/visitors/family/ffn/program to hear about study findings side-by-side with other community members.

Through these activities, new parents will become familiar with COSI and the learning opportunities available there.
