Hi Everyone! This website was created by me with the generous assistance of The Ohio State University's own Digital Union Staff. Special thanks to Vicky, Greg, Nick, Joe and all my fellow R2 researchers. This following list includes the names and descriptions of all the people in my research lab who helped me throughout my first undergraduate research experience. But first, I'll let you know a little bit about myself!

Daniel Zeleznikar - Electrical/Computer Engineering - Undergraduate Researcher

I will be entering my second year at The Ohio State University this September. I recently completed Ohio State's FEH program, culminating with a 10-week project studying nanotechnology and microfluidics. In this quarter, I was introduced to Dr. Grzybowski and the wonderful field of engineering research. My team was also runner-up in the design competition of the project! After completing this I was happy to join Dr. Grzybowski's research team. In my spare time, I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons. Below is a picture taken in our lab.

Deborah Grzybowski Ph.D. - Ophthalmology and Biomedical Engineering Depts.

P.I./Assistant Professor - Neurovascular Research Group - Download CV Here

I am a glorified plumber! I have my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis on Fluid Mechanics and Cardiovascular Hemodynamics. My M.S. and B.S are in Chemical Engineering.

I apply all of my previous experience in fluids and hemodynamics to understand the various flows in and around the eye. This includes the outflow of CSF, aqueous humor (glaucoma), corneal hydration, and other applications. I have expanded my work to include the study of retinal fluorescein angiograms and their correlation to vascular defects in other organs with applications including diabetes, Susac’s Syndrome, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, and others.

The best part of my job is teaching! I love working with the Freshman Engineering program here at OSU. You meet some wonderful students and learn something new every day!

In my spare time I love to inline skate, scuba dive, snow ski, and mountain bike. I have three children, the oldest two are OSU graduates, while the third is yet to be determined…he is a junior in high school. He plans to design and fly rockets, and I know he will one day!

Amy Long Ph.D. - Department of Ophthalmology - Postdoctoral Researcher

I earned my Ph.D in the Department of Human Nutrition at Ohio State University. The long term goal of my dissertation research was to determine the role of stress-induced signaling pathways in cataract development, and the potential of dietary antioxidants to modulate this stress response. After graduation, I wished to continue my research in eye diseases and so looked to the Department of Ophthalmology at OSU. I was immediately intrigued by the diverse projects in the lab of Dr. Deborah Grzybowski, which include the study of CSF homeostasis as it relates to glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease and pseudotumor cerebri. In my spare time, I enjoy biking, snow skiing, hiking, cooking and relaxing with my three cats.

Martin Lubow M.D. - Division of NeuroOphthalmology - Emeritus Director
