When Belinda Spinosi arrived at Ohio State she immediately become involved in an existing organization called "Students for Disability Awarenes." At this point in time the situation for students with disabilities was a difficult one. The Office for Disability Services was not gaining the respect it deserved and students with disabilities were being met with adversity on a daily basis.
Spinosi and others in the organization took it upon themselves to change the campus climate for students with disabilities. They began writing for the Lantern to create awareness, and soon after this they began the COTA - OSU student protest. This protest sought to ensure that the COTA - OSU contract included transportation for students with disabilities.
During Spinosi's time at Ohio State, she became a well-known student leader among the disability community.
