(2 minutes 23 seconds, captioned)
The establishment of the Modern Language Association’s committee on Disability Issues (MLA-CDI) was the event that was the catalyst for the interest in creating a Disability Studies program at OSU. Brenda Brueggemann, whose original field was Deaf Studies, had not thought about a program in this field before. She was asked to be a part of the MLA’s committee and soon began to introduce this field to the university and advocate for a program at Ohio State.
