In 2001 Brenda Brueggemann, in collaboration with some of her colleagues in the OSU writing center, and two classes from OSU and the Columbus Speech and Hearing Center, organized a program that offered literacy exchanges for deaf adults. These exchanges were online and in site visits to Ohio State and the Columbus Speech and Hearing Center. While the program did not turn out entirely according to plan, it was “important for OSU, and those of us at OSU, to make the community connection,” says Brueggemann.
