The Digital Union hosted a demonstration of the Thinkpad X41 Tablet PC. Microsoft representatives presented the tablet technology along with OneNote , a flexible and powerful organizing program that integrates the inherent capabilities of a tablet PC. The X41 Tablet PC was released to the public on June 14, making the Digital Union demo one of the first in-depth looks at the product.



The X41 includes a WACOM digitizer and a tablet digitizer pen on which a handful of nifty improvements have been made. These advances include the addition of a right click button, and a new design which provides for it to be non-powered; the pen does not require batteries or charging. New software enhancements include an InterVideo Virtual Drive CD/DVD emulator and the latest ThinkVantage technologies. For security purposes, the X41 also sports a built-in finger print reader.





Microsoft representatives presented myriad software capabilities of the X41 as a tablet PC. Handwriting input being a marker of tablet technology, representatives explained the concept of digital ink with Winows Journal and OneNote including drawing, erasing, and highlighting text.
