About the Megaconference:

Each year, the Megaconference occurs as a result of a tremendous amount of volunteer effort and good will, with the goal of connecting people together everywhere on Earth where someone chooses to participate, in order to further the use of videoconferencing in education and research and to advance the state of the art in videoconferencing technology.
On the chosen date, speakers from across the globe share their latest real-world uses of H.323 videoconferencing and other compatible systems, while using these videoconferencing systems to do so. The audience consists of:

  • Active participants who have access to advanced Internet connectivity and an H.323 or other compatible videoconferencing endpoint, and
  • Observers who watch the simultaneous stream using a web browser and freely available stream players.
  • Registration for Megaconference is closed. If you would like to observe this year's Megaconference, please visit our streaming page. If you would like to participate as a volunteer in any way for this or the next Megaconference, please feel free to contact us.

    The Technology

A system of distributed, H.323 and other compatible multipoint control units (MCUs) located around the world will be cascaded together to create a cutting-edge Internet videoconference infrastructure. For more, visit our MCU page.

    The Email List

The Megacon email list is a general purpose discussion list for all topics related to H.323 and compatible video conferencing technologies. Many people posts things there, ask questions etc, that are not directly related to the Megaconference itself. There are probably 800 subscribers. It is the largest list on this topic. People who work for commercial equipment vendors are allowed to subscribe, but with the understanding that their participation is informational (both directions), and cannot be used for sales purposes. When you register for the Megaconference, you are automatically added to the list so you will receive all the announcements.

To subscribe to the list at other times, send us an email and explain who you are and why you would like to be on the list.

It is normal each year after the Megaconference for a small number of folks to unsubscribe, as they are perhaps not interested in other video conferencing topics beyond the Megaconfererence.

If you would like to unsubscribe from this mailing list send e-mail to:
    listproc@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu
with no subject, and in the body of the message put:
    unsubscribe megacon
**IMPORTANT: your message must be plain text, not HTML
**IMPORTANT: you must send your email FROM the email address that is subscribed

If you have tried this, send us an email with your full name and all email addresses and we will remove you.
