Can I reserve a computer at the Digital Union?

Yes, Digital Union computer stations can be reserved in 2 hour blocks. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance and can be set up by calling our front desk at (614)292-2793. If you do not arrive within 10 minutes of your scheduled start time, your reservation will be canceled.

How can I learn to use computer applications at the Digital Union?

The Digital Union offers free technology workshops for OSU students, faculty, and staff every Tuesday during the quarter. Advance registration is required.

Detailed information about workshops and links to registration can be found at http://digitalunion.osu.edu/workshops.

We also have a subscription to an online tutorial resource called Lynda.com with video tutorials for all of the programs available at the Digital Union. Free access to Lynda.com is available at all Digital Union workstations. To learn more, see our Multimedia Instruction page.

Can I access Lynda.com tutorials at my home or office?

Contact our Systems Admin, Dave Hooker (hooker.24@osu.edu), to request a temporary lynda.com username and password. This will allow you to watch tutorials from any computer with internet access. The maximum checkout period is 1 week, after which you can renew as long as no one is on our waitlist for an account.

How do I learn about Digital Union workshops and events?

The Digital Union website features up-to-date information about all of our events and workshops. You can also sign up to receive updates about our events by sending your email address with a note asking to join our listserv through our contact form.

Can you teach my students multimedia so they can make a class presentation that isn't PowerPoint?

Yes. We can work with instructors to teach some basic multimedia skills to sections or whole classes. Students can create short videos, digital narratives, or small websites to complete class assignments.

If you would like to propose a project in which the Digital Union can assist you in improving your courses with multimedia technology, please fill out our Project Intake Form.
