CarmenConnect went live for Spring semester users on January 4, and people are using it! We’ve had a lot of positive reports, and questions, and some problems. We’ve even encountered our first “known issue” (which is geek speak for “we know there is a problem but we can’t fix it right now”).
The problem is not so much with Connect itself, but with how Connect interacts with course management systems like Carmen. Unfortunately, until the next patch release from Adobe, this will continue to be an issue.
But worry not, good folks. There is a work-around!
There are two possible solutions:
- When setting up or editing a QuickLink topic, check the “Preview/view the content topic in a new window or tab” box. To check your link, select View Content and access the topic. Accessing the topic from the Manage Content interface does not seem to work, but using the View Content interface will reveal that your link does.
- Create an HTML page in the Content area, then insert a Quicklink and set it to open in a new Window.
Using either method, everyone should be advised to turn off their pop-up blockers, or (the better solution) authorize popups from carmen.osu.edu and carmenconnect.osu.edu.
