I am excited to officially invite you to Innovate, the OCIO’s annual conference featuring the best uses of technology in teaching and learning at universities and colleges across the nation. Held on Thursday, April 12th, 2012, Innovate will take place at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center on Ohio State’s campus.
This year’s theme, transformation, will highlight the ways that technology can promote dramatic changes in the ability to engage students in the classroom and impact research and field study opportunities across the globe. Special guests this year include keynote speaker Karen Cator, director of the Office of Education Technology, U.S. Department of Education and Joe Lambert, Founder of the Center for Digital Storytelling. One of the goals of Innovate is to create connections among faculty and staff who are interested in exploring the relationship between technology and teaching. New this year, an emphasis on faculty-led presentations about transformative approaches to teaching, research, and outreach in a wide range of disciplines. Presentation formats include poster sessions, breakout sessions, and a “steal my idea” showcase, with 5 minute presentations about exciting learning technology approaches that can be enacted in diverse environments.
This interactive, highly engaging program is built upon two years of tremendously successful events in 2010 and 2011. A short video highlight of the 2010 event can be found at elearning.osu.edu. Past attendees have included faculty and technology staff from 30 colleges and universities in Ohio across the midwest. Session evaluations during the conference showed that 99% of respondents rated their sessions as good or excellent. We were thrilled to see that a vast majority of participants were excited about attending a similar event again in the future.
Conference schedule will be posted next week and registration opens on March 12th. Grab a colleague and join us on Thursday, April 12th for Innovate 2012!
