Spanish/Portuguese – Making an Impact

The grant team Claudia Cornejo-Happel, Jose Diaz, Melissa Doran, Jenny Galeano, Jared List, Jan Macian, and Christine Miller have been meeting in person or virtually to map out our project and assign tasks to the different team members. We are currently piloting the synchronous and asynchronous communication options in the Individualized Instruction Center in Hagerty Hall using face-to-face, Skype and Adobe Connect for our scheduled appointments with students in Spanish 104. Students are working on their online workbook assignments and also their Carmen drop box activities. In addition, we are also beginning to recruit for the Spring quarter enrollments by visiting classrooms and holding 30 minute orientation sessions. In order to help students evaluate their skills, we prepared a readiness quiz that is currently being piloted.
