Animal Sciences, Project Planning Update

The team continues to meet and discuss possibilities and the project plan is coming together slowly, but steadily. This is the roadmap for what we want to accomplish, so time spent here is time well spent! There are so many things to consider, and our weekly meetings are really helping to get to the heart of what we are trying to achieve.

The multiple perspectives of the team from Learning Technology and the Department of Animal Sciences are quite stimulating.  It is really helpful to have a group of people working on the project that may not know as much about the course itself, but are really interested in improving the student experience. With each question, new possibilities come to mind. We also identify things that are working really well that we want to use more. One of the team members from Animal Sciences commented after the meeting last week how great it is to have a group of people coming together who are interested in finding the best ways to achieve the goals of the course and meet the needs of the students and instructors, rather than trying to force the course to fit a pre-set way of doing things.

As we continue to develop the map for the project, modalities of teaching and learning that I had not even considered are coming into play and it is exciting. My vocabulary now includes terms like “Hy-flex”, “f2f” and “asynchronous”, and I look forward to continuing to expand the horizon and step beyond my comfort zone!
