Start of the Quarter Carmen Tips

Valerie Rake

The week before Autumn quarter is a busy time for the Carmen team. We participate in the Digital Union’s “Tech 2-a-Day’s” workshop series, do demonstrations for new instructor orientation events, and we also start handling an increasing number of help requests as faculty and graduate students start to set up their courses in Carmen.

Here are some resources and suggestions that might be useful to you or to colleagues:

If you can’t find your course under the Instructor tab in the My Courses list on Carmen, check with your departmental SIS course scheduler. If you aren’t listed as the instructor in SIS, you won’t have been auto-enrolled in your course. If your role in your Carmen course is wrong, the course scheduler will need to change your role in SIS. The change will “catch” up to Carmen the next day.

If you need information about using Carmen, visit the Getting Started guide, find some time to review an online Carmen tutorial, or follow step-by-step instructions in the Instructor Help site.

Once your course is ready for students, make sure you activate it!
